2014 WPH Schools Cross County Races – Results (Updated 7/10/14)

Sunday, October 5th, 2014

11th Annual WPH Schools Cross Country Races
In truly atrocious weather, WPH’s Schools’ Cross Country races took place on Saturday 4th October. In its 11th year, the event again secured entries of over 650 athletes from a record 53 schools. The club was again pleased to receive entries from several schools entering the competition for the first time.

The conditions presented significant challenges for athletes and officials alike. The results team have done a fantastic job despite a large proportion of athletes finishing a number of races without numbers! Inevitably, though, there are some gaps for which we apologise. Please use the link below to download a copy of the results.

RESULTS – 07/10/14

Congratulations to St Teresa’s School for retaining the Chris Aperghis Cup awarded to the top Year 5/6 school with a set of fantastic performances in both age groups. Individual medals were presented on the day. Team medals and the Chris Aperghis Cup will be sent to the winning schools as soon as possible.

2014 WPH Schools’ Cross County Races – *** Car Parking Update ***

Sunday, September 28th, 2014

2014 WPH Schools’ Cross County Races – Sat 4th October 2014

On Saturday 4th October 2014 Wycombe Phoenix Harriers hosts its 11th annual cross country races for schools in the Wycombe area.  The venue is Hughenden Park very close to High Wycombe town centre.

Races are for junior and senior school athletes.  The junior school races are for years 5 and 6 pupils, boys and girls.  The senior schools races are for all school years, boys and girls.  Entry is free and schools may enter as many pupils as they wish.  Though typically the first three from each school count in the team event. Please note that due to the high number of entries expected in the junior school races, we are imposing a close date for junior school entries.

Hughenden Park is a superb and popular venue for cross country races and regularly hosts championship events. In January 2010 the Buckinghamshire & Bedfordshire County Cross Country Championships were held in the Park and Manor, and in 2011 & 2012 the Buckinghamshire Schools Championships were also held in the Park.  The courses are a mix of parkland, hills and possibly some water!  Viewing for spectators is superb!

For more details and an entry form for the October 2014 races please click onto the links on this page.  The links include the email inviting schools to participate, the entry form, the provisional race timetable and a map of the courses. Race results will also be added soon after the event. Schools entering athletes will receive an e-mail confirming their entry, race start times and general administration points including parking arrangements.

*** Car Parking Update ***

We have additional car parking arrangements in place for this year’s event.

School Minibuses

Free parking spaces for School Minibuses will be available at Magnolia Park.

Cars

A limited number (around 100 spaces) spaces will be available at Magnolia Park next to Registration and refreshments and at the end of the park with the Start and Finish for all of the races. Car parking at Magnolia Park will be charged at £2 per car.

Wycombe Phoenix have agreed with the National Trust for around 200 spaces to be available near the Church at the top of the park. The entrance is located on the left hand side driving up the Valley Road from Wycombe Town centre.

Please note that both of these arrangements involve cars parking on grassland. If we have some significant wet weather in the days leading up to the event, their use will  be reviewed. The Wycombe Phoenix website (www.wycombephoenix.org) will contain up to date information on the event (including car parking) all week. We strongly advise, checking the website on Friday evening for any last minute alterations.
