WPH is Hosting Athletics Matches and Needs Your Help

What are the events?

Bucks County Track and Field Championships – Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th May – at Horspath, Oxford

  • Each club needs to provide a number of volunteers to help out with the essential ancillary jobs at these County Championships. Please give half a day over the weekend of Saturday 11th / Sunday 12th May to support this event. (Morning is approx. 8am until 1pm, afternoon approx. 1pm to 5.30pm.)
  • Your County needs you. Find out more and how to help here.

WPH is hosting a Southern Athletics League match (SAL) – Sunday 19th May – at the Little Marlow track

  • Every club in the league takes it in turn to host league matches and it’s now WPH’s turn. We haven’t done it for a while so it’s out turn but we usually put on a very good event.
  • The club needs you. Find out more and how to help here.

WPH’s own Junior Club Champs and Invitational – Sunday 16th June – at the Little Marlow track

  • Our annual event for the Club, run by the Club. Feedback just in from last year shows just how good we are as a club at putting on events “certainly one of the best athletics tournaments I’ve been to, everything was very well organised and the level of competition was very good.”

What can I do to help?

For the all the events you could be

  • Helping the officials –  raking the sandpit, retrieving implements, assisting the Track referee with the paperwork, helping to measure;
  • Communications – a “runner” to keep the communications going
  • Liaising with athletes on the registration desk; or
  • Setting up, taking down, keeping the officials fed and watered or one of the many jobs before and on the day

In addition, for the WPH events
If  you can use a simple spreadsheet and are good with numbers you could help with results
If you’re organised we’d love your to help before the day
If you have a flair for cooking come and run the BBQ to raise funds.

I’d love to help. How do I do that?

I’d love to help but I’m worried that I don’t have the skills or experience

Please don’t worry – no previous experience is required.
Athletics is a sport that prides itself on supporting its volunteers. We aim to support you throughout your experience: sending information before, being there to answer questions and keeping in touch throughout the event. We are used to working with parents / athletes who are new to the sport.

Please do contact / talk to Sally if you want to know more or to just talk things over.
