“Even during the big freeze 4 Wycombe Phoenix athletes made their way across to east London to take part in the Southern Indoor Championships at Lea Valley.

Performance of the day came from Marissa Robertson winning the bronze medal in the under 15 girls 300m in a new personal best of 44.6 seconds. Marissa had only just made it to the final by edging out team-mate Sophie Matthews in a photofinish in the semi final, both girls being given the same time of 45.49.

Zac Randall stepped down a distance from his preferred 800m to work on his speed by competing in the 400m. He had an excellent day finishing 4th in the under 20 mens final, with all 3 rounds under 51s and a fastest for the day of 50.7. This places him 3rd on the UK under 20 ranking list at this very early stage in the season and bodes well for his chances in the National Championships at 800m in Birmingham in February.
