Chiltern League Cross Country Match 5, Horspath, Oxford

  • Senior Men’s team achieve 1st place after 5 fixtures!
  • Match 5 joint 1st place for the club combined.
  • Derek Lloyd achieved overall V50 1st.

 

WPH returned to a very muddy yet exhilarating course at Horspath, Oxford on Saturday 8th February 2025 for 3 hours of back-to-back racing across the age groups for the final match of the Chiltern Cross Country League.

We had 61 athletes compete (up from 52 last year) of which 44 were males and 17 were female.

Our overall club / team result for this final match 5 was joint first place with Chiltern Harriers AC (both achieving 2502 points)!

The overall male teams results was top of the division 1 table for match 5 and 1st place for the male seniors. When combined with the female seniors we placed 2nd overall, just 4 points off Headington Road Runners.

There was some highly commendable top 3 positions for our athletes in this match showing exceptional performance in division 1 as below:

Zara Tate – 2nd U13 Girls
Finn Hayward – 2nd U15 Boys
Dylan Leigh – 3rd U15 Boys
Myles Caddell – 3rd Senior Men

The overall end club / team result after all 5 matches in the top division 1 was a very strong 5th position for WPH.

The overall combined male team result after 5 matches was 2nd place and 6th place to the female team. The seniors overall result was 2nd place and the overall juniors was 6th place.

The senior men’s team moved up from 3rd position last season to finishing 1st position overall, comfortably above Bedford & County AC and Marshall MK AC, possibly a club first!
